How to use 2" gauze as your first aid bandage. If this is a small wound with little bleeding it will need to washed with soap and water prior to covering the injury with a dressing. Be careful not to touch the side of the gauze that is going against the wound to prevent the spread of bacteria. Secure the dressing by either taping the edges or just wrapping with our 2" gauze. Remember, do not apply any Hydrogen Peroxide or Alcohol to the wound. This will cause damage to the tissue and slow down healing.
Dynarex brand conforming stretch Gauze rolls are two inches in width and six ply for comfort and strength. Ideal for wrapping head wounds to securing first aid dressings. Once bleeding has been controlled, cover your 4x4 or 5x9 gauze pads with your two inch roll gauze to hold dressing in place and prevent further injury to the wound. These gauze rolls are non-sterile so always place a sterile dressing over the wound prior to wrapping.
Because the gauze can stretch and is conforming it is also flexible so you can still have some mobility and maintain good circulation when it comes to wrapping joints and limbs. If you have moderate or worse bleeding, you must control the bleeding first by using direct pressure to the wound. Use at least several 4x4 gauze dressings or for more serious hemorrhaging use a 5x9 trauma dressing. Remember you have 3 steps to use to control bleeding, allow 3-5 minutes per step. They are, Direct Pressure, Elevation and Pressure Point. As you advance from step to step add an additional dressing. Never remove the original dressing.
